One Piece Odyssey was first announced earlier this year, coming from developer ILCA, who most recently produced Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The studio composed of many Japanese video game industry veterans has previously worked on games such as Yakuza 0, NieR: Automata, and Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age, which the studio particularly cites as a source of inspiration for One Piece Odyssey. The game is the first major console JRPG for the One Piece franchise and features new characters and enemies designed by manga creator Eiichiro Oda....

The trailer confirmed some of the game’s playable characters, including main character Saitama, the cyborg Genos, Hellish Blizzard, Speed o’ Sound Sonic, and even Mumen Rider. The end of the trailer shows the season 1 big bad Boros, perhaps an indication that this game will mainly focus on the first season of the anime....
