While Ori and the Will of the Wisps seems to work well on Nintendo’s portable console, reports have been making their way online of players experiencing crashes or slowdown, as well as instances where the screen-scrolling momentarily freezes trying to load more of the level. It seems these problems can get pretty bad, as one Reddit user claimed their game crashed more than 30 times over the course of a 16-hour playthrough.

However, it seems the Switch’s performance woes won’t be a problem for much longer. On ResetEra, game director Thomas Mahler provided an update on the situation, writing, “We’re on top of all of that, no worries. A patch that should iron these things out will drop soon.” He added in a follow-up post that this patch will be included in the physical version of Will of the Wisps when it releases later this year.
Technical issues were something fans noticed about the original release on PC and Xbox One as well, but those weren’t enough to stop Ori and the Will of the Wisps from garnering near-universal praise. Everything that makes the game a hit is still present in the Switch point, and it’s good to know that Moon will hopefully make it easier for those players to enjoy the experience.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available for PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
