While he is not as ridiculously powerful as Saitama, Genos is a powerful hero in his own right, and is currently an S-Class Hero named the Demon Cyborg. Genos’s main strengths come from his fully cybernetic body, which grants him a variety of tools, weapons, and powers that are far beyond the capabilities of a normal human. Furthermore, Genos’s abilities are frequently changed out and upgraded depending on the situation, meaning it can be hard to keep track of his various abilities.

Genos At The Beginning Of The Series

Genos was already quite strong before meeting with Saitama. After his home and family was destroyed by a rampaging cyborg, Genos begged Dr. Kuseno, who was in pursuit of the cyborg, to give him a cyborg body. Genos’s cybernetic prosthetics give him incredible strength and speed, allowing him to destroy many monsters with relative ease. Genos’s body is also equipped with a variety of useful sensors to scan for life signals and enemy positions. His main weapons are his incineration cannons placed within the palms of his hands. He can fire heat, fire, or plasma at varying strengths depending on what kind of arms he currently has equipped.

Genos’s cyborg body is powered by an energy core located within his chest. In addition, his body is highly durable, and Genos does not seem to feel pain even when his body is destroyed. Because of this, Genos can survive a large amount of damage and be repaired later. Despite this, Genos’s abilities are still far below that of Saitama’s, something he recognizes when he first meets him. Genos then endeavors to become Saitama’s disciple, and the two of them soon become fast friends.

Upgrades And Improvements

As a cyborg, Genos’s progression usually comes in the forms of improvements and replacements to his cyborg body, switching out his current body parts for more powerful ones. Some of these parts are for specific situations, such as the Anti-Saitama Tactical Arms, which he uses in his match against Saitama. Other upgrades come in the form of objects and accessories like Arms Mode, which Genos carries around in a suitcase. When he needs to use it, the suitcase transforms into new arm parts that drastically power up his attacks.

Aside from these replacement parts, Genos also frequently has his body upgraded by Dr. Kuseno frequently to match the escalating strength of the monsters that constantly invade society. These often happen after a terrible battle that often left Genos damaged in some form. While most of these upgrades are generic improvements to Genos’s base strength and speed, occasionally they may grant him more versatility as well, such as gaining the ability to detach his limbs (though they are still connected via cable). These upgrades also tend to change Genos’s appearance as well, Genos’s large armory of equipment and constantly upgraded body allow him to constantly evolve and change with each arc, allowing him to keep pace with the escalating threats that appear throughout the series.

Cyborg Fighting Style

While many of Genos’s powers are based in technology and machinery, Genos does have the capacity to learn tactical knowledge and fighting strategy due to his still-human brain. This is part of the reason why Genos asks to become Saitama’s disciple even though he gains strength through upgrades. Of course, on his own, Genos is already a skilled martial artist in his own right, even before meeting Saitama, and he knows how to leverage his cyborg body’s advantages over those with organic bodies. In addition, Genos has the knowledge and awareness to use his various armaments and equipment strategically, allowing him to improvise solutions on the fly and adapt to changing situations. These qualities and more are what ultimately propel Genos to S-Class in the Hero Association, marking him as one of the most powerful heroes in the world.

Ultimately, Genos’s fighting style is formed by combining his fighting knowledge and abilities with his powerful cyborg body. He uses his martial arts expertise when fighting hand-to-hand and takes advantage of his various high-tech weapons and signature Incineration Cannons to fight enemies who are keeping him at a distance. Genos’s fighting style develops over the course of the series; initially having a very direct approach to fighting monsters, Genos slowly becomes more flexible and creative with time, something that could be attributed to Saitama’s influence as a mentor and friend.
