Originally set to release at the end of the year, Ubisoft is bringing out the big guns in this video game adaption of director James Cameron’s cinematic universe. Using the latest incarnation of the advanced Snowdrop Engine, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to allow players to explore a vibrant, sprawling open-world that is filled with missions and gameplay features. But, while all of this sounds good to the ears of any Avatar fanatic, new info suggests Ubisoft has apparently bitten off more than it could chew in the current development stages of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

On Twitter, video game journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that the game has had a troubling development process when responding to another user’s tweet concerning Ubisoft’s recent delay of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Stating that although the action-adventure video game visually “looks pretty,” Grubb elaborated that the gameplay featured in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is in “rough shape” and that this alarming status report of the game’s quality came to them from “about a month ago.”
As with all rumors, this insider news regarding Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s apparent rocky development should be taken by readers with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made by Ubisoft or Massive Entertainment. However, there may be some truth in Grubb’s statement. After all, Ubisoft recently announced during its first-quarter report for the 2022-23 fiscal year that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will now release in 2023-24, which is quite a delay for a title initially set to drop sometime this year.
Regarding Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s delay, Ubisoft stated that the extra development time will allow the team to better deliver a “cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology.” With this lengthy delay now in place, Avatar fans can only hope that both Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment will be able to mold the game into a much more polished gaming experience within the next coming years.
